from a Nugget columnist.\u00a0 The GREAT\u00a0news is how much support we received\u00a0in response to the personal attack in the final days of the campaign.\u00a0 The real issues were how personal it got; and the fact that\u00a0the time\u00a0frame allowed no real\u00a0possible opportunity to\u00a0put each candidate under equal scrutiny.\u00a0 How fair is that? \u00a0In essense it was a last minute \x26#8220;blitz\x26#8221; on our campaign; with little time to respond.\u00a0 Some would say \x26#8220;dirty pool\x26#8221;; but we chose to be positive.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In response to the latest hurtful column, (see post below for link) we found ourselves heading down to the Nugget for a discussion.\u00a0 First\u00a0with the column writer, afterwards with Editorial bosses.\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3eThey were all gracious\u00a0enough to speak\u00a0at length with us\x26#8230;and the POSITIVE RESULT is that\u00a0we were allowed a full rebuttal to the column!\u00a0 As far as we know this is a first!!\u00a0 It\x26#8217;s the first time we know of for the Nugget to allow a FULL REBUTTAL to a column on the nugget webpage; \x26#8220;enter the race\x26#8221; to earn\u00a0your votes.\u00a0 \x3cem\x3e\x3cstrong\x3eThis Blog is composed of four sections:\x3c/strong\x3e\x3c/em\x3e\u00a0\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3e\x3cstrong\x3eMORE INTEREST:\x3c/strong\x3e I have been amazed by the interest shown by people; they really seem to be \x26#8220;connected\x26#8221; to this election.\u00a0\u00a0There are those that say voter turnout will be down; and point to the advance polls (down by about a thousand people) as proof.\u00a0 Well; even if they are right (which I\x26#8217;m not convinced of yet)\x26#8230;.it seems to me those who\u00a0ARE\u00a0interested, \u00a0are actually MORE\u00a0interested than ever.\u00a0 Those that are voting are really looking into what we have to offer, more than ever.\u00a0\x3c/p\x3e\x0a\x3cp\x3e\x3cstrong\x3eSTARTED EARLY \x26amp; STAYED BUSY:\x3c/strong\x3e\u00a0 For me; it\x26#8217;s been exhilerating: both fun and intense at the same time.\u00a0 In my case,\u00a0the ride started early; I was one of the first to sign nomination papers way back in March.\u00a0 The excitement never stopped!\u00a0\u00a0 I answered hundreds of emails and phone calls\x26#8230;probably a dozen Surveys or Polls/group questions.
